What is the difference between Location-Based and IP-Based Access?

With Location-Based Access we will set up the access for Digi-Mags with the location coordinate of your venue. This method allows your customers to use their own Internet with their own devices, and you do not have to provide a Wi-Fi connection to your customers. To use the platform all your customers need is a location-enabled device such as any modern phone or a tablet with an Internet connection. With IP-Based Access your customers access the platform through your venue's Internet connection on their own devices. This means you need to provide your customers with a Wi-Fi access and your Internet connection needs to have a Static IP (an IP Address that does not change). Please select your preferred access method while placing the order on our Sign Up Page.

Set Up - IP-Based Access

How to set up Digi-Mags?

Setting up Digi-Mags is easy. All you need to do is fill in the form on our Sign Up Page and provide us with a Static IP Address for your venue and we will set everything up for you. Please ensure you are or will be providing your customers with a free Wi-Fi access, so that they can enjoy Digi-Mags on their own devices.

How do I know if I have a Static IP Address? How can I get one?

To find out if you are likely to have a Static or a Dynamic IP Address please see this page to check your IP Status. If your venue has a Business Broadband it is likely that you already have a Static IP Address. However, to ensure you can enjoy Digi-Mags without any issues you should check that you have a Static IP Address from your Internet Service Provider. If you have a BT Business Broadband please see this page. If you have a Residential Broadband at your venue you probably have a Dynamic IP Address and will not be able to use Digi-Mags with your current Internet connection. Please contact your Internet Service Provider to activate Static IP for you. Most providers are happy to do this for a small fee or an upgrade to Business Broadband might be required.

What is a Static IP Address?

There are two types of IP addresses. Static and Dynamic. Static IP Address never changes, where as Dynamic IP Addresses can change. Static IPs are typically only included by default in business broadband contracts. If you are not sure if you have a Static IP Address please contact your Internet Service Provider and they will be able to help you set this up or confirm whether you have one active already.

Why do I need a Static IP Address?

Digi-Mags allows your customers easily and quickly to access the platform without having to type in a password or download an app. This can be only achieved by whitelisting the Static IP Addresses of the venues who have an active Digi-Mags subscription with us.
This means that your customers can start enjoying content on Digi-Mags in just a few seconds, resulting in an improved customer experience.

How do I find out what my IP Address is?

Finding out your IP Address is easy! All you need to do is to visit a website such as www.whatismyipaddress.com while connected to the same Wi-Fi your customers would be using and the website will tell you what your IP Address is. Please remember that you need to provide us with a Static IP Address. This can be either an IPv4 or an IPv6 Address - but it needs to be static (meaning it stays the same). In most of the cases you would only have an IPv4 Address, but in some cases you can have both IPv4 and IPv6 Addresses. And for Digi-Mags to work your connection needs to only use one of the IP Interfaces to ensure the platform works. If you would like to know more how to find out your IP Address and if your connection is ready for Digi-Mags, please see this page to find out your IP Status.

What is an IPv4 Address? IPv6?

Both IPv4 and IPv6 are simply put types of addresses that help machines to communicate with each other over networks. It's easy to tell an IPv4 Address and IPv6 apart. IPv4 is a numeric address separated by periods, whereas IPv6 is a longer alphanumeric one separated by colons. IPv4 Example: 127.128.129.130
IPv6 Example: 2001:0db7:84b4:0000:0000:8a8e:0370:7334

Troubleshooting - IP-Based Access

My customer cannot access Digi-Mags, what should I do?

Ensure that your customer is connected to your venue’s Wi-Fi as they would not be able to use Digi-Mags with their own Internet connection.

My customer cannot scan the QR code, what should I do?

All modern Android and iOS phones can scan QR codes by simply pointing the phone’s camera at the code. If your customer has an older phone that cannot scan QR codes by using the default Camera App, you can advise your customers to scan the code with a separate QR Code Scanner App, or to access Digi-Mags by simply going to www.digi-mags.com on their device (while connected to your Wi-Fi).

My platform is not working anymore, what should I do?

If your platform suddenly stops working this is most likely due to your IP Address changing, meaning that the IP Address we have set up the service with has not been Static. Please contact your Internet Service Provider to set up a Static IP Address that does not change. Once you have received confirmation from your Internet Service Provider that you have a Static IP Address set up, please let us know by emailing the details to support@dltmedia.co.uk. In the rare occasion that your Static IP would change due to it being changed manually, or due to an error on your Internet Service Provider's end - please email us your venue's new IP Address to support@dltmedia.co.uk.

Set Up - Location-Based Access

How to set up Digi-Mags

Setting up Digi-Mags with Location-Based Access (geofencing) is a breeze. All you need to do is fill in the form on our Sign Up Page and we'll do the rest for you! We will use your venue's address to get the location coordinate and set the platform up for you.

How can I find my current location?

If you would like to find out what your current location coordinate is, please visit www.digi-mags.net/location to find out.

Troubleshooting - Location-Based Access

My customer cannot access Digi-Mags, what should I do?

Ensure that your customer has location enabled on the device and when prompted allow the browser to use the device’s location.

My customer answered “No” when asked to allow location, what should I do?

The browser will remember the user’s answer to not allow the website to use location. To get asked the question again please clear the browser’s cache and cookies and reload the website.

When going to www.digi-mags.net I get an error message saying “Please enable your device location services and then reload the site to access it.”, what should I do?

Please ensure the device’s browser has either “Ask” or “Allow” set for the location access and reload the website. You might also have to clear your cookies and cache.

When accessing www.digi-mags.net while at my venue I get an error message saying “It is not possible to access this site from your current location.”

To check if your device is giving our platform the correct coordinates, you can perform a quick Google search with the coordinates shown on the page to confirm that it is your current location. If the location shown on the page is your current location this means the platform may have been set up incorrectly. Please contact support@dltmedia.co.uk and we will look into this for you.

My customer cannot scan the QR code, what should I do?

All modern Android and iOS phones can scan QR codes by simply pointing the phone’s camera at the code. If your customer has an older phone that cannot scan QR codes by using the default Camera App, you can advise your customers to scan the code with a separate QR Code Scanner App, or to access Digi-Mags by simply going to www.digi-mags.net on their device.
